Outlaw Fuel Altereds
at Wichita Falls 2005
This was our first event of 2005 with the Outlaw Fuel Altereds. Anytime you choose to run with this group of racers you had better bring your A-game. Wichita Falls had a full field of 19 or 20 cars and with only 8 cars making the cut for eliminations we knew we had our work cut out for us. Our first round of qualifying went pretty well as we approached the track with a conservative tune-up. The sun had beat down on the track all day and we were focused on making a clean pass and learning what the car wanted. We qualified number 8 after the first session with a 4.61. The car laid down a nice clean run and other than going airborne in the shutdown area we were trouble free. As the sun began to set, the track temp dropped and the air improved. We knew the other teams would step up and we were determined to do the same. With a few adjustments made to the tune up we made our way to the lanes for second round. We fired up just after the sun had gone down and ran another clean straight pass next to Brad Rigler's 'Toxic' altered. Unfortunately, we were just a bit too conservative and missed the show. While we did improve to a 4.53 it left us in the number 10 spot and bit short of the 4.41 bump spot.
